The update to the park has included a new playground, sand play equipment, seating and picnic areas, a water fountain, and irrigation for the grassed kick-around area. Accessibility of this space has also been improved with new pathway connections and a basket swing with rubber soft fall underneath.

The playground offers a slide/climbing structure and swings for school-aged children while providing a rocker, sand play equipment and play panels for younger ones.

The inclusion of many of these features was driven by the feedback shared throughout the community consultation process. Thanks for having your say!

Minor works on the pathways are still to be completed in late April. This will result in minimal disruption and the park will be open throughout these works.

Community Consultation

During the consultation process, a few key areas of improvement were identified by the community including better pathway connections, picnic areas, playground and recreation improvements, and more accessible spaces. These ideas have been important drivers of how this design was completed and following a second round of consultation, there was overwhelming support for the design.

The concept design aims to create a place for our whole community to swing, climb, slide, and kick, but also rest, relax and take in the beauty of the surrounding natural environment.

See the Blythwood Reserve Consultation Report for more on the ideas provided by the community.

Project Background

Public parks and reserves play a valuable role in our communities, providing places to play, gather and connect with nature.

The City of Mandurah is planning a masterplan for Blythwood Reserve, located on Blythwood St, Dudley Park. This reserve needs a refresh to better support our growing community and to create a vibrant and welcoming place to catch up and explore the local community.

Do you or your family use this park? We’d like your input into the activities, facilities and play equipment you would like to see.

As well as considering your feedback, the plan will:

  • Review playground and recreation spaces
  • Review public amenities including, shelters, seating, and lighting
  • Review paths and path connections
  • Enhance environmental aspects, particularly the remaining Tuart population and local biodiversity.

This initial engagement stage involves the gathering of ideas. Once completed, the team will develop a concept plan which reflects the community requests within the designated budget. View the key dates for more information.
